AAP leader Sanjay Singh has launched a fierce critique against the ruling party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, specifically targeting the BJP's purported door-to-door sindoor distribution initiative. He labeled this effort as a cheap political gimmick, dubbing it the 'One Nation, One Husband' scheme. In response, the BJP has denied media claims suggesting that party members are distributing sindoor at homes. Singh questioned, "Do you understand the significance of a pinch of sindoor, Modi ji?"
Cultural Significance of Sindoor
In a post on social media, Singh emphasized that in Indian culture, women wear sindoor as a symbol of their husbands' longevity, respect, and prosperity. He argued that it embodies pride, dignity, and deep emotional significance. However, he criticized the Prime Minister for introducing the 'One Nation, One Husband' concept following initiatives like 'One Nation, One Election' and 'One Nation, One Leader.' Singh raised the question of whether this campaign implies that all women in the country are expected to accept Modi as their husband.
Concerns Over Political Exploitation
He further questioned, "What kind of mentality is this? Are all women in the country now expected to accept Modi as their husband? How long will the BJP continue to engage in petty politics under the guise of Operation Sindoor?" Singh also pointed out that the four Pakistani terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack remain unidentified, and the issue of reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) is still unresolved. He noted that the Indian Army had the capability to reclaim POK or liberate Balochistan, but the central government opted for a ceasefire under pressure from Donald Trump. Meanwhile, BJP workers are distributing sindoor without considering the sentiments of Indian women.
Emotional Significance of Traditions
Singh questioned whether the BJP had considered the emotions tied to this tradition. He stated, "Do you understand the importance of those two pinches of sindoor, Modi ji? This is not merely a political stunt; it is an insult to women. Indian women will wear sindoor for their husbands, not for a political leader. Please stop this attempt to misuse our traditions for political gain." Earlier on Friday, the Congress unit in Kerala also criticized the BJP, sharing a poster of Prime Minister Modi with the phrase 'One Nation, One Husband.'
